Who Should Get Lasik Surgery?

November 27th, 2009 Posted in Lasik Articles

When we start asking who should get lasik eye surgery, we may be thinking of ourselves or of a friend or family member. The fact of the matter is if you are wearing contacts or glasses there is a huge chance that you are eligible for receiving lasik eye surgery.

My up front answer is this; if you are someone wearing glasses or contacts, then you absolutely should get lasik eye surgery. I have personally got the surgery back in 2001 and have not regretted even for one second of getting the surgery done. The surgery itself only lasted around 30 minutes. It was more of a strange experience than it was painful. The doctor will give you something to take to help relax you and keep you calm during the surgery.

During the lasik eye surgery you are awake, and you see a lot of different types of instruments coming to your eye and touching your eye. But the doctor applies some numbing lotion to your eye, so you really don’t feel anything aside from some slight pressure on your eyes. It really is a great surgery; I was dependant on glasses since the age of 5. I wasn’t able to focus on anything that was more than 6 inches from my face, and now I have perfect vision.

So if you are someone that has glasses or contact and are even considering the thought of getting lasik eye surgery I highly recommend it. There will be a couple days of slight discomfort after the surgery, but it passes, and usually within the first month your eyes have completely healed.
